"WTC"
Oil on canvas
36" x 58" / 91.5cm x 147.5cm
2001
Here is my sample of things that happen in our blue planet, of what mankind is able to do. Whoever did this produced an image that will be frozen in time for generations to come, life sometimes is worthless compared to power and money and this is something we have to live with, hoppefully we were not in the WTC buildings or the planes at that time, but this doesn't mean that one day we couldn't be, from now on this is something we have to live with as well.
(This painting was made from a picture published in "Times Magazine" days after the tragedy).

This is the way I see the long way towards god, or universe, or energy, or universal mind, or..., the higher the step you climb the less thorns you'll find, then look back, you'll see how bad the last step was, or even worse the ones before the last, then you'll know you're improving yourself, you're a better person now and could be better, just climb the next step and you'll see less thorns and problems in your physical existence.

What money really means to you?, that's my question on this painting, and the answer is in your mind, which is part of the universal mind, the same universal mind that says this is for better or for worse.

"Those

Oil on canvas

2001
At first glance, this painting shows a fence made of different parts in a country side scene. For those who lived in my mother country (Cuba), this is a typical scene, now, going deeper this painting represents the reality of a whole generation that did not have the option but living in a communist country (if communism can be called like that). Sacrifice is a rule into a regime like this, even if it envolves your own life. In other words, you are born and rised for something, then you're force to end as something different, you're used and forced to be part of something you were not born for, you're lucky if you get adapted, the other way you might be history.
