While been the Artist member of Grupo Lam, a Cuban Independent Artist Group, that held Octavio Guinart as a co-fouinder and member from 1994 to 2003, was honored with the Peter Makal Medal, by Mr. Peter Makal, director and owner of Makal City Theater, an international pantomime theater company. He also worked as a model for Salvador Dalí during his time working in France.

This medal was issued by the goverment of South Africa, as a homage to Mr. Peter Makal for his labor and effort to set free Nelson Mandela, Mr. Makal was also called by this goverment "Ambassador of the Arts".
